This ebony walking stick is made from a single piece of wood. There is a hand-carved diamond-patterned collar with most of the shaft carved in a twisted pattern.
The twist pattern is interposed with the carved words:
'THE CAMPBELLS ARE COMIN'
'This is a Scottish song associated with the Scottish Clan Campbell. The song was extant by 1745 and perhaps much earlier.
It may have been inspired by the war of the Jacobite rising of 1715, or it may have been concerned with earlier events around the deposing of Mary Queen of Scots'
